The Ends of Globalization

In writing project 4, I would like to focus on human trafficking of women in China and how we could possibly result through a global approach. The background information that I have researched are as follows: first, human trafficking became popular in China because of the long live sexism which families prefer boys over girls. And under the One child policy proposed by the government, this phenomenon was exacerbated. The ratio of men and women in China is extremely unbalanced and therefore a lot of men were unable to get married. Then by buying and selling women became the easier way out. Second, The Chinese government has made effort to illuminate this violence. They they created regarding legislations and joined the international Organization related with human trafficking. Third, The current situation reveals that human trafficking is very hard to resolve. The recent news about the woman being kidnapped and sold to a village in the mountains was not resolved easily. When this snooze was for exposed by a vlogger, the local government tried to cover things up by glorifying and understating the situation.

The idea I would like to explore is the role of the ideal of “family and marriage” in this type of human trafficking. The glorifying text posted by media are trying to to pick this as a personal issue as if it was just a conflict within a family. Was the desire of having a marriage the cause of men buying woman? Was the desire of having a marriage be able to have a children(labor) part of the government school so that they became hesitant to make harsh laws to punish the buyers? Or even worse in order to pursue stability and fertility, governments made laws so that it became harder for these women to escape? Such as the “30day chilling period”
