Seven days ago, I closed my first big writing client.

Just this morning, I received an email from Stripe stating that the payout is expected sometime today. As I look at the amount in my Stripe dashboard, I shake my head.

There’s a comma in the number.

My mind is still blown, even a week later.

My journey of finding a writing client started almost exactly 6 months ago.

I knew I wanted to create a digital offer: either a digital product or a digital service. The barrier to entry is low, the risk is low, and besides, I didn’t have any particularly bright business ideas in the physical realm.

And so I started pounding the pavement, looking for leads who could use some help creating email funnels.

The 6-month road that followed before landing my first big client was a long one.

It was paved with small wins, sure: free clients, small payouts, conditional yeses (e.g., I’ll say yes to a lower price).

But it was also paved with tons of mistakes and learning moments that I wish I had known about…
