3 Unprofessional Behaviors Exhibited by Some Writers on Medium

Unseasoned practices that should be done away with.

Medium is meant to be a platform where its writers exhibit professional behaviors.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

It’s not been long since I started writing here on Medium. But in my short time here, I’ve seen some writers behave in highly unprofessional ways.

And I’m here to point out some of those awkward practices.

1. Dishonest engagement.

Some writers here on Medium offer dishonest support to fellow writers.

And this is really unprofessional.

Sometimes, when people clap or comment on your story, they expect you to do the same thing for them. And if you don’t, they disengage with your work.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with engaging with the stories of those who engage with your work, I’m simply saying that we should be honest when engaging with another writer’s story.

If I see value in your story, I’ll clap for it. Or, I can just choose to clap for your story to encourage you. I don’t expect you to engage with my story in return.
