7 of the Countless Blessings that come with ADHD!
To my Neurodivergent Reader
I was inspired by a podcast.
The podcast is called ADHD Chatter and it’s hosted by Alex Partridge. In one of the recent episodes, Dr. Ned Halowell was interviewed. He is a psychiatrist and ADHD expert.
And he wrote ADHD Explained (which I would love to read but there is a backlog of books that I need to complete). Listening to him speak about the history of ADHD and how the study of it has evolved was illuminating.
I also enjoyed listening to a doctor who not only how elucidated on the myths as regards ADHD but owned his voice to it. It felt so cozy listening to how people with diagnosed ADHD (diagnosed by a practitioner, not the online quiz you stumble on social media) took ownership of their lives and curated positive experiences for themselves.
He didn’t pathologize ADHD. He didn’t grimace at it becoming a buzzword, these days. He simply addressed the special attributes that come with it and how necessary they are to make groundbreaking success in the neurotypical world. I am not sure I remember all of them. But it’s the valence of the podcast that spurred me to write how I feel about people who have been diagnosed with ADHD.
