Last night, my publication The Live. Love. Laugh. Pub followers were around 821, but today, the count dropped to 794. Suspicious, I checked my recent stories and noticed that claps had decreased too.

It is clear there has been another mass suspension — or perhaps a glitch, as accounts often get restored after complaints.

Yet another wave of mass account suspensions, that I wrote about on December 16, 2024. Surprisingly, it hasn’t even been a full month since then.

However, this time I discovered something new.

While scrolling through Medium for new pieces to read, I came across a story by Atif Sharif. He mentioned that Medium tends to carry out these mass suspensions right before payout cycles.

While the December 16 suspensions didn’t coincide with a payout cycle, his observation is worth considering. If there’s any truth to it, it could explain the pattern.

Now that I am aware, I plan to keep a closer eye on glitches or account suspensions around future payout cycles.

In the meantime, are you aware of Medium having such a schedule?
