You write for other people. Why can’t you get it right for yourself?

Or it could be the other way around. You may be proud of your blogging. But dread your decision to offer writing services to others.

We can divide our writing into two categories: the writing we do for others and the writing we do for ourselves.

But does the quality of one reflect the other?

I’ve been a corporate writer for decades. I’ve ghostwritten articles on the beauty regimes of the British royal family. I’ve done promotional work for drainage companies. But I started blogging in earnest about a year ago.

Can you apply the skills you developed in one type of writing elsewhere with success?

Today, you will read how the two writing branches are separate but can work together.

You only need to look back for around a year to see the moment when my writing changed.
