Books I’m Reading And Lessons I’m Learning

I learned, not as early as I should’ve, that reading helps a lot when it comes to improving one’s communication skills.

I don’t know what triggered my sudden interest in reading; maybe it’s because I realized something was missing in my pursuit — creating and sharing value. I noticed that my vocabulary was too limited for someone who aims to be understood and stand out in the crowd.

I’m not going to sugarcoat my ambition here — I want to make a difference, a big difference. I don’t often talk about it fearing that I might sound arrogant or be perceived as something I’m not, but those days are over (I hope).

The book that drove me to follow this path — reading and discipline — is Atomic Habits by James Clear.

Before that, I always made excuses for not reading, claiming I was too busy studying subjects like new programming tools or learning a new programming language.

Changing your habits is not easy. From what I’ve been learning, we don’t change a bad habit, we replace it with a new and healthy one.

In my case, I had to learn how to split my time and organize my new routine which now includes reading first thing in the morning, writing on Medium and here on Substack.
