France is famous for its culture and architecture where the Loire Valley takes its pride of place. In the middle of this valley stands the mansion called Château de Brissac or, as one can also meet, the ‘’Haunted Mansion” which captures one’s sight with its grandeur and scary legends.

However, this château is not only popular for this grandeur but also for the unwanted guests, or more properly called, ghosts that are said to reside there.

The Legend of the Green Lady

The most well-known local tale of Château de Brissac is that of the Green Lady The legend is that when a nobleman, Jacques de Brézé, caught his unfaithful wife Charlotte fornicating in the castle, he in anger murdered her.

Legend has it that despite being buried at the château, Charlotte's spirit is still found wandering the corridors. Some stories speak of a woman dressed in a green gown who is seen roaming the halls at night; thus, the appellation of ‘Green Lady’ is given to Charlotte.
