Loneliness & Longing
Distance tests love.
When two people care for each other, they want to be close. They want to share time, meals, and everyday moments. But life doesn’t always work that way. Jobs, school, family, or just timing can put miles between you. I know this, because I lived it.
A few years ago, I fell in love with someone who lived in another state. At first, I thought the distance would break us.
How do you build something real when you can’t just drive over and see them? How do you stay close when weeks go by without a hug?
What I learned is that distance strips away what is easy. You can’t patch things up with a smile across the table. You can’t rely on touch to fill the silence.
Instead, you learn to talk. Really talk. We shared everything our worries, our daily routines, even what we cooked for dinner. Little things became big because we made space for them.
It wasn’t always simple.
When you’re apart, your mind can play tricks on you What if they forget me? What if they find someone else?
