Google just lost “Google it”
Remember When We Used to Say ‘Google It’
The biggest invention of mankind was not electricity or a wheel. It was Google. It’s a hot take, but it is true (I have my reasons).
Think about it: a single search bar changed how 8 billion people answered every question.
It had become an emotion; even if you didn’t know something, a few clicks and you got it.
“How to cook chicken curry?” Google it.
“Who came first, Chicken or Egg?” Google it.
But something wild happened in the past two years. Nobody says “Google it” anymore.
Now we ask ChatGPT. Or Perplexity.
Google didn’t just lose traffic. It lost culture.
I mean, for over 20 years, Google dominated the space. For anyone asking for anything, Google was there to answer.
Even when Microsoft tried to push Bing, or Yahoo Search tried to compete, nothing came close. Google was untouchable.
Google was untouchable.
Until it wasn’t.
