I’m bound and determined to make Medium great again
I got this email from Tim Denning. If you’ve been on Medium for any amount of time, you know who he is. He said this:
“For 5+ years I’ve had a daily habit to write on Medium dot com. I finally gave it up. The platform started to lose a high number of users, and the staff continued to talk down to and even insult my fellow writers.
My views and earnings also dropped 99%.
It was so hard to give up. The platform was a big part of my online writing journey and I kept telling myself “They’ll fix it. They’ll listen.”
But they didn’t.
The incompetence is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. They live in a bubble where they think people will pay for fortune-cookie essays that an AI wrote.
The truth is I stayed on Medium for too long. I should have quit in 2021 when the founder of Medium quit because he could see the end was near. And I should have 100% quit when thousands of writers all left and moved to Substack.
But I didn’t.
I stayed too long. Just like I’ve stayed too long in past relationships with lovers who despised me.
