If there is one thing every writer battles, it’s resistance. That invisible force that whispers,

  • Not today
  • Maybe tomorrow
  • Just scroll a little longer

Steven Pressfield wrote The War of Art, where he defines resistance as,

A universal, internal, and negative force that stands in the way of us doing the work we’re meant to do, espcially our creative work or a significant personal calling.

The truth is that resistance never really goes away. Even seasoned writers wrestle with it. The difference is that pros don’t wait for inspiration to strike. They build systems to fight back.

Here’s how:

They Show Up Every Day

Pro writers don’t leave their writing to chance. Seth Godin, for example, has written a daily blog for years. Some posts are only a paragraph long, but he hits publish anyway.

When I started writing, I thought I needed a perfect idea before I sat down, so I barely wrote anything. Once I committed to showing up daily, whether or not I felt ready, everything changed.
