When I first started writing online, I wrote about many topics, including personal finance, self-improvement, health, books, and writing. Then, I learned that you need to find a specific niche to succeed as a writer. Otherwise, it can be challenging to grow.

I never understood this concept. So, I kept writing about whatever I wanted.

Soon, I started writing on Medium but was skeptical because I believed only writers with a large audience would succeed on this platform. There was no chance I would get thousands of followers or make thousands of dollars. My mindset was that people wouldn’t read my work and would only prefer the stories of writers with the most followers.

I was so wrong.

I kept writing about whatever I wanted instead of picking a specific niche.

Another famous writing advice we hear often is to write for the people and do what they like.
