How To Help Survivors in Western North Carolina

One Way To Help Those Affected By Hurricane Helene

Like most people up North, I don’t know what to believe, exactly. Mainstream media and YouTube videos reported that FEMA ‘s response was abysmally slow. Days after the disaster, victims of Hurricane Helene were frantically posting videos of houses, roads and bridges washed away. We heard thousands were without power, cut off from the world, and it was starting to get cold.

My paramedic daughter reported FDNY had offered to send a couple of teams down to North Carolina, then pulled back, saying they could only send one.

Other sources reported the same lackluster response.

We began to hear rumors, days after the hurricane struck, that many areas still hadn’t seen any sign of FEMA in western North Carolina. One reported seeing two workers, but no trucks or equipment.

After a week or so, FEMA seemed to rally, putting out reports that funds were being allocated to help, but it was considered too dangerous to send actual FEMA workers into the areas hardest hit by the hurricane. They’d send workers later, when things calmed down.

WTF? I remembered a scene from the Titanic, where an officer of the line, commanding his own little lifeboat, refused to turn it…
