I Have Avoided Seasonal Depression for 5 Years With 3 Habits That Take Just 10 Minutes.
I woke up depressed every morning.
But as time passed, I realized the only thing worse than waking up depressed each morning was giving into the grip of that depression, which manifested into:
- Binge eating.
- Staying in bed for hours.
- Self-isolating.
The outcome was a wasted winter, which also ruined my progress from the summer. I suffered like this for 3 winters before finally accepting that depression was only a state of my mind, that I could easily escape.
These are the 3 habits I’ve implemented to escape depression every day.
Waking up 4 Hours Earlier
Waking up early is the first difficult task I accomplish in a day.
In contrast, waking up at 10 or 11 a.m. leaves me feeling lethargic, behind, and as though the day is already wasted. Waking up at 6:30 a.m. flips that narrative, flooding my body with endorphins and signaling that I’ve already gotten my first win of the day.
This rush gives me the energy to move and avoid hours of bedrotting.
