Smarter Machines, Dumber Humans?
Are we losing the game?
When was the last time you tried to remember a phone number?
I used to be really good at memorizing almost everyone’s number I needed, like the nearby auto driver, the gas station attendant, or the grocery store guy.
But now, I don’t even feel like trying to memorize them.
But my grandmother, who still uses an old Nokia featured phone, still remembers the phone numbers of every random guy in the locality.
Guess what would happen 10 years from now? We might become so dependent on AI that we can’t mentally do much of anything on our own.
The one thing we’ve always said separates humans from other animals is this:
Humans can think.
That’s why we rule the world. We’re not the strongest species, but we’re the smartest. We learn, innovate, and adapt.
And do you know the most powerful skill humans have? Pattern recognition.
We found patterns, learnt from nature, and built tools. We are the best biomimicry people.
