I’ve Unfollowed You On Medium — Here’s Why

I recently did a Medium clean-up. A Medium spring cleaning, if you will. I went through my ‘following’ list and unfollowed a lot of people, for a whole host of different reasons. Because you need to do that sometimes.

I follow a lot of blogs, YouTube channels, Substack newsletters, TikTok influences, Instagram pages, and so on, and there comes a point when have curate and pick and choose what to follow.

So why did I unfollow this or that person on Medium? What were the reasons?

Here are 3 of them:

They haven’t written anything in over a year

If someone’s last post was in 2023 or 2022, I see no reason to keep following them. I can always read what they wrote previously, but I won’t have them clogging my list of followed blogs for no reason.

They write the same article over and over

You know the type. How-to lists, get-rich-quick articles, self-help articles, etc, with little to no variation between them, especially if it’s the kind of thing everybody ELSE writes about, too. I understand clickbait, and I understand the need to sort of re-hash old topics every once in a while — I’ve certainly done it before — but if that’s all of…
