Besides painter and sculptor, Leonardo is known as a scientist and inventor. However, their abilities were not restricted to artistic and mechanical skills with him.

Da Vinci was interested in human anatomy and after analyzing the human heart and its movements he even knew about the valves of the heart several centuries ago though contributed less in this field.

Breaking the Codes of the Heart

Born and working in the late 15th and early 16th century, Leonardo da Vinci got several opportunities to conduct the dissection of the subject to explore the interior of the human body.

During these studies, he was able to study the structure and working of the most important Cardiac muscles. Da Vinci's study flow of blood in the body was good enough to observe ways heart valves avoided the backflow of the same.

This was a rather stringent approach to diagnosis which was way ahead of what the medical fraternity…
