Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. Back in elementary school, I have fond memories of making monster toast, reaching into a mystery box filled with food that simulated body parts, and walking through a haunted house that students had built in their classroom.

While I’m handing out candy these days rather than going door-to-door for treats, I look forward to Halloween every year. With All Hallows’ Eve fast approaching, I wanted to share some of my favorite articles I’ve written about the holiday over the past few years.

Dive Into Halloween History

With all the pumpkins, costumes, and candy at the forefront of the public’s mind, most people aren’t aware of how today’s Halloween traditions came to be. After reading a little bit about the history of the holiday online, last year I finally got a copy of Lisa Morton’s nonfiction book, Trick or Treat: A History of Halloween. The Halloween expert details the origins of All Hallows’ Eve from its Celtic roots as Samhain all the way to modern manifestations in America and around the world.
