My struggle with programs from Adobe

And why I don’t have a solution to the problem

I’ve been working with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for years, yet these programs still annoy me.

The Adobe Creative Cloud is incredibly expensive, every month, every year.

I know there are cheaper alternatives, like the Affinity programs. But what should I do when Adobe products are the industry standard? As soon as someone needs my file and I arrive with an Affinity file, nobody knows what to do with it. Everyone in the creative field works with the overpriced Adobe programs.

Fortunately, I “only” pay €35 every month because I took advantage of the Black Friday deal, but that’s also €420 yearly! For software that sometimes crashes, has bugs, and uses so much memory, I’d like to use a NASA computer…

… and I still “only” pay €35. This subscription costs €70/month, which in turn is €840. Who can afford that privately? Sure, I earn money with it, but it’s not justified.

After all, I had already switched to Premiere Pro because I didn’t want to use this buggy program anymore, and files were often broken when Premiere thought they were going to crash. I first switched to Final Cut Pro and later to Davinci Resolve.

Let’s be honest, these two programs cost 300€ once! They can do it, too. Why not Adobe?

I’m in favor of no longer considering Adobe programs the standard but instead relying on Affinity or other programs to save a lot of money (and bugs).
