The trap of employee thinking
Most of us start writing while juggling day jobs and other responsibilities. This creates an invisible barrier I call “employee thinking” which is when you approach creative work with the same mindset we bring to our 9-to-5.
In a traditional job, you:
- Work set hours
- Complete assigned tasks
- Receive a consistent paycheck
- Follow someone else’s vision
This mindset serves you well as an employee. But as a writer trying to build a sustainable business, it becomes your biggest obstacle.
