In the last post I mentioned that I’ll be posting about helpful supplements or not so helpful supplements for ADHD.

But before taking that step I need to give you a word of caution. Read on….

Coming back to the above question,

Yes, they can be dangerous!

If we use them indiscriminately.

If we stack them without a second thought.

Especially if we take them with allopathic medicines without professional guidance.

UNLESS YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE DON’T MIX THE HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS OR ANY KIND OF SUPPLEMENTS WITH ALLOPATHIC MEDICINES. IT CAN BE REALLY DANGEROUS.

There are literature reports what works and what doesn’t work. If you have patience go through the literature yourself.

Or otherwise TAKE PROFESSIONAL HELP.

SUPPLEMENTS are NOT PRESCRIPTION MEDICINES. And they are readily available on many e-commerce sites. I assume it’s the case anywhere in the world.

There may be specific cases of exceptions not a blanket requirement of a prescription for buying supplements.

I am not aware of any need of prescription for supplements anywhere in the world.

Readers out there can enlighten me if there are such cases.

Utmost care will be taken to present information based on RESEARCH and proper literature will be cited in my blogs. If any extrapolations of research results are mentioned that will be explicitly cited.

Some supplements are such that we know right away they are helping.

Some supplements are not so straightforward, and they take some time to reveal themselves about their strengths.

Some supplements we can’t know whether they are working even after trying them for several weeks.

I will be FORTHRIGHT about any of these three scenarios with any supplement.

Furthermore, along with SUPPLMENTS one need to follow PROPER DIET.

In Indian Ayurveda system of medicine, diet itself is treated as science. Proper diet is prescribed along with medicine. If they don’t follow that diet there’s no guarantee that treatment will be helpful to the patient.

Sometimes, COMPONENTS in the DIET interfere with or support SUPPLEMENTS FUNCTION. Thus, it may work in some individuals, and it may not work in some individuals based on their diet.

For SUPPLEMENTS to do their BEST JOB it’s usually recommended to follow VEGAN DIET. Because it’s milder and causes LESS INTERFERENCE with their function.

Some of you might have already seen online SUPPLEMENT STACKS recommended by some people.

BEFORE MAKING ANY SUCH STACK, JUST MAKE SURE EACH COMPONENT OF THE STACK WORKS IN SYNERGY WIHT EACH OTHER.

NOT ALL STACKS WORK FOR EVERYBODY.

Again, SUPPLEMENTS have their own MIND. If a supplement is not working, it doesn’t mean its principle is wrong. MAY BE ITS QUALITY IS NOT GOOD.

Further, how do we know whether a particular SUPPLEMENT IS GOOD OR NOT.

Look for a statement like ‘STANDARDIZED for its principal COMPONENT’.

Many good companies are out there selling the ‘STANDARDIZED SUPPLEMETNS’.

So needless to say, only buy from REPUTED COMPANIES.

Lastly DOSAGE OF SUPPLEMENTS also plays important role just like CONVENTIONAL MEDICINES.

It’s ALWAYS ADVISABLE TO START WITH LOWER RECOMMENDED DOSAGE or EVEN FURTHER LOWER depending on the supplement.

At HIGHER DOSAGES they will have DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS. NEVER EXCEED RECOMMENDED DOSAGE UNLESS UNDER PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE.

Additionally, supplements come in a variety of forms, tablets, capsules, gels, tinctures, whole or standardized powders etcetera.

It’s advised to buy a fine scale/balance and weigh the powders for the cost efficiency. All the other forms of supplements are mere forms of convenience but may turn out to be expensive in the long run.

BECAUSE WE ARE DEALING WITH CHRONIC CONDITIONS WE MAY NEED TO USE THEM FOR A VERY LONG TIME. BUT CONDITIONS APPLY THOUGH.

Further, we need to ROTATE the supplements as they become ineffective over a period of time. SO, NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENT MAY BE USED FOR VERY LONG PERIODS. EXCEPTIONS MAY BE POSSIBLE. RECOMMENDED TIME PERIODS WILL BE EXPLICITLY MENTIONED.

I wanted to write this word of caution before I venture out and describe the SUPPLEMENTS which HEPLED and which DIDN’T HELP for my son’s ADHD condition.

Further, I would like to explicitly declare here that I AM NOT A MEDICAL DOCOTR and NOT PRACTICING MEDICINE through this ‘MEDIUM’ FORUM.

In the next several blogs this DISCLAIMER IS DEEMED DECLARED whether it’s mentioned or not. THESE BLOG POSTS ARE ONLY FOR INFORMATION AND ONE NEED TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR USAGE.

I WILL NOT BEAR ANY RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER IN WHATSOEVER FORM FOR ANY DAMAGES CAUSED WHILE USING THIS INFORMATION.

If you don’t have knowledge to understand professional literature, then you better SEEK PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE before using ANY SUPPLEMENT FOR ANY MEDICAL CONDITION.

Having cleared this MANDATORY DISCLAIMER, I am ready to start opening up in the coming blog posts about my experience using various supplements for my son’s ADHD condition.

Now I would like to know any of the readers out there had any positive outcomes or adverse outcomes while using any supplements. I welcome comments.

Until the next post, cheers!
