The Art of Not Giving a F*ck as a Writer And Why It’s Necessary

Writers care too much, and that’s a problem.

How often do you think about how your article performed? Do you check the stats? Do you get upset when you spend two hours writing a piece that only gets ten meaningless views?

Sure, you do.

I do, too.

And that’s a problem. If you want to be a successful writer, you need to stop caring.

This might sound misleading. How can a writer not care about their work?

I’m not saying you should ignore things completely. I’m saying you must not dwell on the things that don’t matter and focus on the work. The bitter truth is that you have no control over your article’s performance. Instead, you can only control your effort — your actions like writing, engaging, connecting, and so on.

Stop caring about the metrics. Start caring about the efforts you put in.

If you truly love writing, there’s only one thing you must do — write. Show your care about a subject through your writing.

In the past, I’ve dwelled on my stats, checking them each time I publish an article. Ninety percent of the time, this resulted in disappointment because my post didn’t bring as many views or…
