Social media stalking means repeatedly monitoring someone’s online activity without their knowledge or consent. It looks like casual browsing initially but slowly changes into an obsession.
I’m a psychologist and I have some clients especially women who share their struggles with me. I saw some of them struggling with a similar problem of social media stalking.
After a breakup, especially when betrayal or cheating is involved — accepting reality becomes harder. Our mind goes into a state of denial, trying to protect us, and one way it does this is through social media stalking.
I’ve noticed many women get stuck in this pattern, constantly comparing themselves to the person their ex chose. They check that person’s social media more than their ex’s, wondering if they’re better.
