The Web of Addiction — Created on Microsoft CoPilot by the Author

Pants hanging on moist feet,

anchored to the chair.

Desperately seeking something sweet,

to feed the hungry stare.

Trapped by the trance,

too late to escape escape the web.

The spider laughing at the dance,

waiting for the clean conscience to ebb.

While the basking bird sings outside the window’s screen,

the spider gnaws on the soul.

In the darkness the succubus clings,

desire’s venom taking its toll.

When the spider feeds upon you,

what do you gain?

When the temptation comes due,

will you refrain?

An addiction is like the spider’s yarn,

the attractive design that becomes our prison.

Tightropes that bring us harm,

and restrain us from our mission.

Stay clear of these webs and fly outside,

but beware of decadent pleasure.

In plain-sight the spider hides,

waiting to devour your treasure.
