Water, To The Rescue!
A fun and friendly reminder.
“Howdy doody!”
I jump a little upon hearing my best friend’s voice causing my phone to fall onto my lap. Thank goodness!
I remove my glasses, slide my chair back and move towards the sitting area where I see her sprawled on the floor like a starfish.
I roll my eyes telling myself, she’s just fabulously weird and this is nothing new and then it hits me
“didn’t I lock the front door?” but then I remember she has the spare key.
“Why yes, you did, my friend but I shall remind you that I have the magic wand to open this chamber” she swirls the ring of her key chain, jingling all her keys stacked with some charms. Her eyes glittering with mischief.
Then suddenly my head starts to swirl but before I black out, Bee catches me and helps me to sit on the sofa. I slowly blink, adjusting to my surroundings when she emerges from the kitchen and hands me a glass of water to drink and I gulp it down quickly.
I take a deep breath and turn towards her. Big mistake. I should have just kept my eyes closed acting like I've fainted. Now it's too late.
She's standing with her fists on her hips and glaring at me with hawk-like eyes.
“Did you drink any water today, V or were you planning on a water strike holding your empty water bottle like your personal weapon?” she asks menacingly, shaking the empty bottle in her hand.
Ooh, she found my favorite water bottle which tumbled under the sofa last night and I was too lazy to reach for it.
I gulp as my throat suddenly goes dry,
(didn’t I just drink some water!?)
“listen, I was going to when I woke up, but then I got distracted and then some ideas hit me and I started writing and then my brain fogged -”
“Due to lack of enough water in your body, I believe” she grumbles, while I continue my ramble.
“- and I was just hustling and then I forgot, maybe” I add lamely.
She sighs and her shoulders slump. “I think that's the reason, you were just about to kiss the floor.”
I shrug and lay down on the sofa while she goes into the kitchen and comes back with some snacks and sits near me.
“Drinking enough water daily is very essential. You shouldn’t neglect your body, V.
One- Water helps you to stay focused, keeping you away from that brain fog.
Two- It keeps your skin glowing and also fuels your body.
Three- keeping yourself hydrated helps in stabilizing your emotions too.
I can go on and on, you know. Please take care of yourself.” She chastises so sincerely and sweetly that I couldn’t help myself.
I immediately get up and hug her “I'm sorry for worrying you. Thank you for being there for me and reminding me how much water is necessary for physical, mental and emotional well-being. I'll be good from now onwards.”
She stares at me suspiciously but then she slowly smiles, believing the integrity of my words which I did say wholeheartedly. I really shouldn't be neglectful and drinking enough water just went up to the top of my self-care list.
Then to lighten the mood, she winks and says “so WATER you waiting for! Take another sip and let’s dip in some Disney movies. Wooo!”
I laugh and give my BFF a high-five screaming “once you say wooo, you can’t undo! Let’s do it!”
Then we start watching Tangled, munching some snacks and drinking the healthiest drink ever- Water, duh!
