When to Quit vs. When to Keep Going

We’ve all been there — stuck at a crossroads, unsure whether to keep pushing forward or to let go and move on. It’s one of the toughest decisions we face in life.

On one hand, we’re told to never give up, to persist through the challenges. But on the other hand, there are times when quitting is the wisest choice.

So how do we know when to quit versus when to keep going?

The truth is, it’s not always clear-cut. There’s no perfect formula or set of rules that applies to every situation.

It depends on the context, your goals, and your own unique circumstances. But there are some general principles that can guide us in making this difficult choice.

- When to Quit

1. When It’s Causing You Significant Stress or Unhappiness

If something is taking a major toll on your mental health and well-being, it’s probably time to walk away.

Chronic stress and unhappiness are not worth it, no matter what the potential payoff might be.

2. When You’ve Given It Your Best Effort

If you’ve tried every possible solution, exhausted all your options and nothing has changed, it may be time to let go.
