I will keep the story short and share the necessary details with you.

I am from India, which does not have the Medium Partner Program. In short, I cannot earn even a single penny from Medium as I cannot paywall my stories.

Despite this, I have had a Medium membership since I joined Medium in December 2023.

I had it for two reasons:

  1. I want to help my fellow writers earn something, even if I can’t.
  2. I want to read member-only stories because I am not here just to write.

So, why did I have to cancel it from June 2024 onwards?

I am getting married soon, and $5 per month is not a minimal amount in India. To save some money, I cancelled most of my subscriptions.

Since I wasn’t earning from Medium, I thought it would make sense to do so.

However, now Medium is giving me only 3 member-only stories per day to read for free, and for those who have not included a friend link, I am unable to read their stories.

This is annoying, and I am not sure if I can manage without a membership for long or not.

Would you support my decision, or do you think I should resume my membership?

UPDATE: I have renewed the membership, here’s why:
