Why I Stopped Writing Poetry

It became a toxic habit.

Seventh Standard

As a seventh-grader, I loved reading poems from my English and Hindi coursebooks.

I would often try to recreate them in my version and also write some of my own on topics related to my environment, such as childhood, mom, dad, family, studies and love.

The Inception of Love

My family grew fond of my habit of exploring my creative side.

So I continued writing poetry and reading blogs on the internet to learn how to rhyme and write better poems, aiming to improve myself.

Teenage Hits Hard

You can probably relate that teenage attractions, feelings, and heartbreaks hit hard.

I stopped writing about random topics and instead focused on expressing my heart — writing all sad stories about them leaving, fights with my loved ones, and more.

This became a habit that persisted even after my teenage years.

The New Poet

I kept falling into bad relationships, getting heartbroken more, and writing increasingly sad poetry. This cycle continued for years.
