Write About What You Want to Learn
For the longest time, I struggled to come up with good ideas to write about. I’d constantly fumble from one topic to another and still couldn’t find a decent one. If you’ve tried creative work, I’m sure you are aware of this struggle.
Sometimes, I’d find an idea and write about it. Then, I’d keep writing about it repeatedly. The audience gets bored, and so do I. Other times, I’d juggle between topics and think if that’s the correct way to do it — after all, writers are supposed to have a niche (Incorrect!).
I thought idea generation was a creative task that requires a special skill. Those with brilliant ideas can produce fantastic work. So, I searched for the perfect topics — something that’s trending and at the same time, fun.
When you begin to write about a topic that’s trending or that pleases a group of people, you might start well. However, as you progress, things become complicated. You're not particularly interested in that topic. You are only writing about it because it’s a trend.
Trust me, writing about an idea just for the clicks never lasts. You can never become fulfilled as a creator if you are doing something for the sake of the results. The outcomes are never consistent and are out of your control. Focusing on something you can’t control will cause you distress.
