I love all things creative. For one, it’s a great way to ditch my corporate slave identity. For other… it’s fun. Inspiring and liberating. It brings fulfilment to life. It charges our energies so we can keep on going.

Above all… I think creativity is a type of magic. Not just because it makes us high, no. But how it divides or unites us.

After a long time, I came back to writing. Feeling more comfortable about my scribbles, I decided to be adventurous — explore different areas, tap into creative writing… Challenges? Why not!

That’s how I stumbled upon the Ekphrastic Challenge — it’s a monthly event where different creators come together. Goal? A piece of poetry. Prompt? Visual stimulation, art.

At first, I found it incredibly difficult — after all, some art speaks to us…and some doesn’t. But if music can serve as a form of stimulation, so can paintings or graphic design. I decided to give it a go.

Fast forward and I can tell you that my efforts failed — Aerial II didn’t bring me much inspiration. I suppose we respond to different types of art, or perhaps it’s a matter of colour, perspective… expression. However, this challenge taught me a great deal about creativity.
