‘Icing’ is the New Slippery Dating Trend

You’ve heard of ‘ghosting’ when it comes to dating. Just to reiterate, ‘ghosting’ refers to abruptly cutting off contact with someone without giving that person any warning or explanation for doing so. Even when the person being ghosted reaches out to re-initiate contact or gain closure, they’re met with silence.

I’ve been ghosted many times and yes, it’s as brutal as it sounds, but the show goes on.

You may have also heard of ‘breadcrumbing,’ which is described as someone who leads you on by dropping small morsels of interest — an occasional message, phone call, date plan, or social media interaction. These happen sporadically and usually don’t have any followthrough.

Personally, I think ‘breadcrumbing’ can happen in any type of relationship and not just romantic relationships but that’s an argument to be left for another day.

Unfortunately, society has managed to conjure up another new dating trend thanks to our addictions to social media and no one ever really knowing what they want from life, let alone a relationship with someone else.
