In the year of a national pandemic, American culture has majorly shifted. More people than ever are working from home, attending school virtually, and staying inside, away from other people. As a result, priorities are shifting from “what will other people think?” to “what will make me feel better at this moment?”

So, in walks French Girl Style — laid-back, seemingly effortless, and casual — the epitome of what contemporary culture has (quickly and unexpectedly) become. Tie that all up and add the incredible popularity of the 2020 Netflix Series “Emily In Paris,” and you have the latest phenomenon no one can seem to stop researching.

What is “French Girl Style,” and why is it so different from the typical American style?

As a self-proclaimed “wannabe Parisian,” I have read many books about Americans transitioning to French life and culture.
