Born in September 1625 and died in August 1672, Johan de Witt was a political figure and a Dutch statesman of the 17th century. He was murdered along with his brother, and it is said that the mob took parts of their bodies and ate them.

De Witt was committed to controlling the Dutch political system from 1650 till his death. He worked with numerous factions from all big cities, especially his Dordrecht (his hometown) and Amsterdam (his wife’s hometown).
