I wanted to hate love
It surely never liked me
Candy-coated lies abound
Just drown it all at sea

I wanted to distrust love
And all of its many promises
Choking me out every chance
Turning us into fools and novices

I wanted to forget love
Set every fairytale aflame
Wilt each rose in my wake
Only growing gardens of shame

I wanted to kill love
Drag it through the streets
Never doing me a damn bit of good
No beats of this heart only bleats

I wanted to hate love
And then you struck
A shock ran through me
My lightning full of luck

I want to believe in love
Finally finding something true
Distrust, forget, and killer instincts gone
Because love gave me you
