I
am
a speck
of light in
a dark endless lair.
Its paved paths are a bright rouge stain.
I’m an entirety of all the worth of my self-worth.

Out of the darkest times I must have faced every dusk,
cloaked head to toe, in sticky eels,
I’ve stayed staunch/graceful,
my valor,
manner
poised,
firm.

I
am
a shard
of strength in
scary deep-gray pits.
I’m my belief, my destiny.
I’m all my scars, scabs, anxious quivers. I’m acceptance.

Failings, shame, hatred do stride towards me with mean sightseers
ready to carve blues in my skin.
I’m still grateful for
these trials,
lessons
learned,
earned.
