Alchemy
A two tanka stanza poetic experiment
for each silver-lined
there’s also one with fool’s gold
or lead, blocking sun
cosmic and microscopic
nature favors balanced scales
blind faith humbly sees
meaning may not be reasoned
yet heart and soul felt
trust we know next to nothing
serenity stead despair
If you read my last poem, which I published in early January, you may recall that I decided to stow poetry away for a while in favor of essays. I posted that the same day advertised MPP engagement started often earning $0.00, which I overlooked until a couple of days later, to which I adapted by deciding not to paywall new stories.
Regarding poetry vs. essays, Carolyn Hastings and I had the following exchange over the last several days concluding this morning:
Carolyn: “It will be interesting to see which wins out — essays or poetry. Whichever way it goes, the main thing is that you enjoy your writing. :)”
Me (Marcus or Greg, unclear ;-) ): “Likely one day I’ll find balance between the two.”
