Running is a road to self-fortitude and discovery — each step or misstep a lesson in awareness, achieving goals and strengthening resilience.

I have run in places for spaces like the wild wind trapped in an alleyway, blowing through a crowded headspace, swirling shattered, unfiltered thoughts that have a timeless sense of no direction.

I have run because I can with muscles called into action like a coiled cobra ready to strike a thousand times over at the slightest movement to heave every ounce of puff from out of my chest.

I have run on five continents like a would-be cartographer charting a lifetime of memories, noting cultural contours of experiences and consuming territories that would have otherwise consumed me.

I have run for a bus, breath ragged, lungs burning, swallowing grey plumes of toxic exhaust while clinging like static electricity with the friction between knowing you are late and cursing all the reasons why you stopped running long ago.

I have run to belong, and I have run to evade because I have oscillated around a pendulum’s fulcrum between moments of exile and when my cup overfloweth with connections of liquid gold.
