Dave Brubeck was born in 1920 the son of a cattle rancher and a piano teacher. He had no intention to be a musician but took piano lessons from his mother anyway. But due to poor eyesight, ha faked learning to read music.

Brubeck attended college to study veterinary science, but his professor told him his mind was focused elsewhere, like the conservatory. After changing majors…
