Far off God sends
and then we bend
to circumvent His will
while we wish and dream
plot and scheme
and search for His gifts still

Far off God sends
and then we lend
our energy and soul
to our selfish needs
we strive to please
the parts but not the whole

Far off God sends
and then we end
our faith in anger still
we shake our fists
and screech our list
at the failures of free will

Far off God sends
and waits again
until we finally fall
and only then
we turn toward Him

and pitifully we call
