shoulder to shoulder
we step over and around
all things that slow us down
hand in hand we still have a pair left
between us to shape our worlds with love.
side by side
four eyes to see the sea
just beyond the rocky beaches
that would batter and break us apart
face to face
breathing in each other’s sighs
holding the other’s joy scared in a gaze
we are as we ever were and ever shall be together
and yet, he says he’s so sorry so many times.
