I Whisper Your Name

A Poem

Jul 2, 2024

A young woman with long, flowing hair is seen in black and white, from her mouth downwards.

I whisper your name,
releasing your syllables
in this empty room,
letting them
shape the silence,
knowing you are
several hours from here,
and traveling further
in the morning.

I whisper your name,
my breath forming
a representation of you,
an apparition of
vowels and consonants,
drifting slowing from my lips
before diffusing into
the air around me.

I whisper your name
because I believe in you,
and need to be heard
declaring my allegiance,
even if only for
an audience of

me.
