Leap

A poem

Jafiyah
Write Under the Moon

--

That strange leap in time,
where I am still under
your sleeping figure.
Feet laid bare beneath the dunes
of sand and thunder.

Slowly it slips
away the memories
of the past, present, and future.

That scary leap of faith,
when I held your face;
red and splotchy
from tears of
I thought I was going to die
whispers and begged incubators.

Every night,
I ponder the wonder:
This leap I so proudly took,
was it worth the price of losing you?
