Mirrors In Mirrors

A poem of reflections

Nature delivers mirrors in mirrors — Photo by Claire Kelly

Nature delivers its sideways shows
that arrive in swift blows at final first glance,
like bitter notes decaying in sour apples
flowers wilting as they fly out of season
its natural ways —
beyond circumstance,
beyond chance,
beyond painted dreams,
beyond cities that gleam nature into faux sheens.

Time after ticking time,
one step into two steps,
time long forgotten and placed on dusty shelves
of things thought to be nothing at all
never to be considered again —
but nothing is something,
and dusty shelves still exude rusty reflections
of the you that used to spend time in the past,
the you that took yourself outside
to weep the glory out of your guts,
a cleansing of residual anxiety-ridden roars
that ever so carefully disguised your insides,
and digested your core with the truth in all lies.
