Moonflowers, Thistle Thorns And Love Tempting At The Door
A Nonet Poem
Moon,
flowers,
thistle thorns
protecting love
holding hands with grief,
guarded heart’s soulful cries,
mourns the closing of love’s door,
when the one they loved to love leaves,
deadlock all doors to minimize pain.
Chained to winter thoughts of how it was,
stuck—locked in shrouded memories,
locked out of you loving me,
9:49 pm
a prophetic sign,
archangels knock,
endings, death,
rebirth,
spring.
Moon,
candles,
intertwine,
light pirouettes
delicate dance steps
graceful across the room,
leading my eyes to the door.
It’s u-n-l-o-c-k-e-d — how could I forget?
Confused, tug in heart, rebuke in mind.
