Moonlamp

A poem

A globe light hung to look like the moon, illuminating a bare tree.

I want to capture
the light of the moon
and contain it
in a glass jar,
letting it be the
moonlamp
under which
the waking world dissolves,
giving way to only
our sensory heightened
mythological selves,
rendered in
broad brushstrokes of
uninterrupted love.

the human heart as painter,
finally free
to deal only in beauty.
