Night to Day
A Poem
Sleep evades me
as night becomes
day and the moon
hides from the sun.
Time marches on
like foot soldiers
trudging through
a muddy field.
Seconds, Minutes,
and hours obeying
Father Time’s
Strict orders.
Creatures of the dark
scurry back to their homes,
birds begin to chirp
signaling a bright, new day.
The alarm calls with its
incessant noise,
waking all who can hear,
ignoring objectionable cries.
Sunlight floods the room
as the blinds are opened,
a warm, pleasant surprise
after a chilly, sleepless night.
The streets begin to fill with
their daily routine,
a new day started,
another chance to live
our dreams.
