Her small boat slips into
the passage between times,
a portage to what lies ahead.

A minimalist by necessity
she carries few possessions;
her need to follow rules
help create a sense
of space and place
where layers interact
with a narrative structure
that speaks to a future life.

A soul untested
she searches for answers
to unasked questions,
as an honest integration.
Seeking a sense
of belonging to a life
where she is valued
for her mind.

To expel her fears
she names them
as she leaves behind a sense
of hopeless longing,
a yearning to fit in.

Time constricts and flattens
so not all moments
linger in the mind.
Many disappear in flakes
fallen from layers of life
where losses are piled
