Take Me To The Future
A free verse poem
Gaze locked on the horizon -
You’re looking at dreams
And toward the life
Your kind warm heart desires.
Cold mantle of the silver moon
Hugs broad fragile shoulders
As stars gaze back at you:
They’re mourning already.
One day soon the winds will blow
And your ashes will scatter
Like glitter and fairy dust
Through the golden fields of heaven.
But we will not cry —
Silence embraces us
And we accept our reality:
One of fragile human life.
I will glance at the future
That you so dearly desired
And will walk in the footsteps
Your eyes envisioned.
When gazing at the horizon,
I will love the world -
And reach toward the dreams
You were so passionate about.
Please look after me
From the distance
Of cold moonlights
And boundless time.
