The Accident (Part 1)
Short Story
Speeding along,
eyes burning red,
the pressure of the wind
plastering my face.
Landscape
blurring by,
the road
washing away
underneath me.
Tires circling
faster and faster,
tread wearing thin.
Then,
pop,
pop…
The motorcycle slips out from under me. Flying through the air, my body crashing to the pavement. My head slams into the ground and I roll five or six times. I’m lying in the middle of a deserted highway, motorcycle in shambles on the side of the road.
Then, everything fades to black.
I wake to the sound of voices. Opening my eyes, all I see is darkness. Did I go blind in the accident?
The cobwebs clear from my brain after a few minutes, and I realize a bandage is covering my eyes. Reaching up, I peel the covering back just enough to see the room, and to make sure my eyesight is still intact. Body parts pop and ache as I begin to stretch and move around.
